Let's meet Classic Boba, the first member of the boba family!
If you do not know which flavor to pick, Classic Boba will always be a good choice.
What is Classic Boba?
Classic boba is a mixture of hot Taiwanese black tea, tapioca pearls, non-dairy creamer of fresh milk, and sweetener, usually syrup or honey. As you may guess from the name, this is the oldest version of boba.
The black tea, or in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan call it red tea (hóngchá), is considered the best tea for milk tea because it has a strong flavor. Blends like Earl Grey, black tea with bergamot oil that gives the tea a slight scent of citrus, or English Breakfast Tea, a robust and rich blend that goes well with milk and sugar, are some popular tea flavors in boba tea.
How to make THE Classic Boba?
The fun thing about boba is there are plenty of possibilities, but if you want to try making boba like how it was originally made in Taiwan, check the recipe below:
- 8 teaspoons / 2 bags of black tea
- 2-3 tablespoon cane sugar/ honey/syrup
- 2-3 tablespoon milk or non-dairy creamer
- 8 oz. - 10 oz. of hot water
- 1 cup of cooked boba/ tapioca pearls
- Ice (optional)
Then? Brew the tea and mix them all! If you have a shaker, use it to create a light foamy texture, if not then just stir them with a spoon.
Serve in a glass container to fully enjoy the beauty of it. Don't forget a fat straw, preferably a reusable one because you will want to have boba again, and Mother Earth will appreciate you for using reusable straws. (づ。◕‿‿◕。)づ
